This motif of a wingless dragon is from a roof boss of the medieval Dominican Abbey, Tralee.
This Abbey was completely levelled to the ground in 1652 by the Cromwellian forces.
This motif can be seen today in the graveyard of St. John the Evangelist in Ashe Street, Tralee.
It has been built into the tomb of Rev. Edward Day.
